Tegucigalpa, Honduras, April 11, 2023

On April 11, 2023, Aim Texas led Aim Texas – WAPCOS JV has been shortlisted in the consultancy tender for provision of “Study and Design for Pollution Control of the Guacerique and San José de Río Grande Sub-basins”, in order to strengthen the transfer process of the water and sewage system for the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) has been sent to the following shortlisted consultants:

  • AIM TEXAS – WAPCOS JV
  • HYDEA SpA – PORTANOVA DÍAZ Engineering
  • HYDROPLAN Engineer-Gesellschaft mbH
  • HYTSA Studies and Projects SA – CONASH
  • VIELCA Ingenieros SA – CONCREMAT engineering and technology

The consultancy assignment will have five (5) deliverables. Duration of the assignment is 12 months. Response to this RFP will be in Spanish.

The aim of the assignment is to obtain a feasible solution and a final design that can effectively manage the issue of contamination caused by solid waste and wastewater effluents in the Guacerique and San José de Río Grande sub-basins. This will involve assessing and evaluating previous diagnoses and proposals that have been developed.

The specific objectives of the assignment are as follows:

  • The validation and identification of wastewater and solid waste pollution issues in both sub-basins will serve as a foundation for developing technical and regulatory solutions, in line with current legislation, to effectively control the pollution being generated.
  • The task shall involve assessing and creating a technical solution, at the feasibility and final design level, for controlling the contamination caused by solid waste and wastewater effluents in each sub-basin. Additionally, it will include developing strategies to regulate land use and ownership, taking into account normal, special, and hydrological parameters for both sub-basins.
  • Design and implement a water quality monitoring network for each of the sub basins.
  • The objective is to suggest guidelines that can strengthen the social, legal, and institutional aspects. This will help provide clear and precise instructions for developing appropriate management practices related to the quality of the raw water reaching the reservoirs and solid waste generated in the sub-basins.
  • The goal is also to gather primary and supplementary information for all planned activities, particularly in the San José de Río Grande sub-basin, where no historical records are available to serve as a reference for this consultancy.
